My grandfather studied with Freud in early 20th-century Germany. Though he never formally taught me psychoanalysis, I feel I inherited his deep understanding—almost as if it was passed down through generations. From a young age, I was captivated by the idea that truly listening to people’s struggles could help them transform.
As a teenager, reading Summerhill further ignited this passion. I wanted others to experience that same sense of freedom and personal growth. Becoming a therapist has felt like my calling for as long as I can remember.
Therapeutic Philosophy
In my work, magic happens. Through attentive listening and attunement, I hear the places where a person’s difficulties began and help them to see how those early experiences affect their current lives. Those early experiences could have been… having their emotions denied, being in an awkward, scary, or even life-threatening situation, feeling rejected, or living with tense, angry, or even violent parents. These experiences can leave a person with anxiety, emotional inhibition, fear, lack of self-confidence, self-criticism, and feelings of depression. By getting to talk about these early experiences and being truly heard for how they impacted you, something changes. The stuck places are released, and new vitality, strength, and personal clarity emerge.
Parenting is deeply shaped by attachment theory, influencing how we connect, nurture, and guide our children. As a therapist, I specialize in integrating attachment-based approaches to help parents and individuals understand their relational patterns, heal past wounds, and build secure, meaningful connections. Rooted in this therapeutic philosophy, my work focuses on fostering resilience, emotional regulation, and deeper bonds within families and personal relationships.
Professional Training and Experience
I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College and completed a two-year Marriage and Family Therapy Training program at the Council for Relationships.
My experience as a parenting educator includes working with at-risk families at the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center, Philadelphia Health Management Corporation, and Family Support Services. I led a team of parent educators, organized support groups and parenting classes, and supervised various community programs.
In addition, I facilitated support groups for caregivers, led a program documenting the life stories
of elders in the community, and for over six years, guided a peer group for seniors countering social isolation.
